Dominic Wall
Dr Dominic WallBSc (Hons) PhD
Dr Dominic Wall is the Production Manager for the Centre for Blood Cell Therapies (CBCT) and is the production nominee cited for the purposes of licensing by the Therapeutics Goods Administration. Dr Wall is the person responsible for clinical cell processing within the CBCT. Dr Wall also manages the activities of the NATA certified Pathology Department at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Dr Wall graduated in Science (BSc (Hons) Applied Biology, UEL) in London in 1986, with graduate training at the University of London School of Pathology at the Middlesex Hospital, followed by a University of Melbourne PhD in cancer research (Functional assessment of multidrug resistance) at the Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre (ARMC). Dr Wall’s background has been in haemostasis, flow cytometry and blood cell transplantation (BCT), becoming the scientist-in-charge of a routine BCT service at the ARMC in 1995. Dominic Wall was subsequently appointed as a Senior Scientist-Development Unit at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service with a brief to establish a BCT service with the explicit aim to meet the requirements of the code of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). In April 1998, he was appointed to his current position of Head Scientist- His interests in Cancer Research, Blood Stem Cell Therapies, GMP compliance and TGA regulation, facility design and operation, and flow cytometry have coalesced in this current position, in a manner that is relevant and useful to patients participating in protocols at this new facility. In October 2002, Dr Wall led his team to be the first blood cell therapy service in Australia to withstand the challenging requirements of GMP. He has published over 80 manuscripts, abstracts and presentations in these areas. He is also a member of the International and Australian Societies responsible for stem cell processing and is a member of expert committees. |
